Wedding Cakes for Your Adventure Wedding

Getting married just wouldn't be complete without a wedding cake. A special and traditional part of any marriage celebration, a wedding cake will add your own personal style to your Puerto Vallarta beach wedding - and serve as the centerpiece of your Las Caletas wedding reception.

Choosing your wedding cake is one of the most important decisions you'll have to make when it comes to planning your destination wedding and reception. Just like your flowers, wedding cakes are an expression of who you are and what you love, so you'll want to think about your wedding theme, colors, and overall style when considering cake designs.

Traditional wedding cakes are mostly white, as a symbol of purity. But getting married in Puerto Vallarta gives you the opportunity to break with tradition and take your cue from your wedding location. Your cake could have a splashy color, exotic flavor - or perhaps be decorated with tropical flowers to suit the motif of your Las Caletas beach wedding.

Adventure Wedding cakes are made in Las Caletas by our skilled in-house team of pastry chefs, who use natural ingredients and decorate the cakes with beautiful fresh flowers or fruits. Whether you want a traditional wedding cake, or something a bit more unconventional, we can arrange it for you. If you've seen any pictures of cakes that illustrate a particular style, element or decoration you like, send them to us. We'll make sure that your wedding cake suits your theme, and your budget, to perfection!

Prices for Adventure Wedding cakes start at $3.50 USD per person [minimum 10], including delivery and set-up at your wedding location.

The History and Traditions of Wedding Cakes

Originally, the wedding "cake" was not eaten by the bride, but thrown at her. Grains of wheat – long a symbol of fertility and prosperity – were showered on the bride, and single women scrambled for the grains to ensure their own betrothals. Around 100 BC, Roman bakers reportedly turned the wheat into bread loaves – but not to be eaten. The bread was crumbled over the bride's head, usually by the groom. It was considered good luck for guests to eat the crumbs.

During the Middle Ages, the bread became small loaves or cakes that guests were encouraged to bring to the couple as wedding gifts. Guests would pile up these small cakes, one on top of the other, as high as they could. The bride and groom would then kiss over the tower, trying not to knock it down. If they were successful, it meant a lifetime of prosperity.

Today, newlyweds cut the first slice of the wedding cake together as a symbol of the couple's unity, their shared future, and their life together as one. Before anyone else is served, the bride and groom feed the wedding cake to each other, symbolizing the support they'll provide to each other throughout their married life.
